Platform.OS Babel Inlining Now Requires Explicit Opt-In

React Native 0.88 adds new capabilities including imperative EventTarget APIs (addEventListener, removeEventListener, dispatchEvent) on native view refs, ArrayBuffer support for Java TurboModules with explicit byte-ownership rules, and DevTools support for screenshot capture and WebSocket inspection in the Network panel. Platform.OS and Platform.select() inlining in react-native/babel-preset now requires the new inlinePlatform option in addition to the existing platform option, so projects relying on prior automatic inlining must update their Babel preset configuration to keep that behavior.

Matters for: This matters for teams maintaining custom Babel configurations for platform-specific code splitting and for Android teams writing TurboModules that pass binary data via ArrayBuffer.
