Next.js 16.4 enables Turbopack shared runtime and tree shaking by defaultThis release turns on Turbopack's shared runtime and CommonJS tree shaking by default, adds support for false values in resolveAlias config, and preserves per-segment prefetching across dynamic navigations while fixing a race that broke back-navigation before hydration. It also separates the App Page and App Route render and prerender pipelines internally and fixes use cache over- and under-invalidation issues in dev.
Matters for: Teams building Next.js apps on Turbopack with large dependency graphs or using App Router prefetching and Cache Components features.
