Update history
Fastly now offers AI Runtime Control, AI Firewall, and new API Security capabilities that let organizations govern model access and spend, protect AI applications, and control how AI agents call enterprise APIs, all applied in the request path across model vendors on the existing Fastly platform. These are additive capabilities layered onto existing services like Bot Management, ContentGuard, DDoS Protection, API Discovery, and Next-Gen WAF, with no breaking changes required.
Matters for: Relevant to enterprises running coding agents and AI-assisted development that need to monitor and control machine-generated traffic and agent-to-API calls without switching infrastructure providers.
Fastly's programmable edge software is now integrated into Comcast's edge compute platform across more than 200 of Comcast's AI-powered data-processing edge locations, running on virtual cable modem termination systems (vCMTS) to deliver content, real-time security, and compute closer to customers instead of from distant centralized data centers. Initial results show substantial gains in data delivery and significant reductions in round-trip latency compared to traditional content delivery mechanisms.
Matters for: Relevant to Xfinity network engineers and streaming/gaming providers needing to handle massive concurrent live-viewing traffic, such as during live sports events, with lower latency and reduced reliance on centralized delivery infrastructure.
